As a female educator, I have crossed a wide range of boundaries to engage in social justice scholarship in education. My personal and professional educational, teaching, and research experiences have prepared me to be a critical researcher and advocate for justice in education.

Epistemology

My epistemology as a researcher is greatly influenced by sociocultural learning theory. As learners are engaged in learning as whole persons, crossing boundaries between practices and different engagement becomes more frequent, enhancing learning processes. From a situated learning perspective, the learning process includes all components of a person’s body, mind, emotions, and social relations as they participate in communities of practice. My mission as a researcher and teacher educator is to contribute to a broader understanding of learning and promote social justice in education.
